The next Scene One Theatre show, “The Lessen of Time,” explores the story of a father working to bridge the gap with his daughter.
Chris Kennison, writer of the show, said the play is a family-oriented drama about a single father trying to connect with his daughter before she graduates from high school. Kennison, who also plays the father, said the play offers something for everyone to relate and connect with.
“He’s afraid he’s going to lose her when she gets out of school. It’s about him trying to rekindle his bond with her,” Kennison said.
Kennison, who wrote the play last year, said he’s very thankful for what Scene One does to allow playwrights to see their plays come to life on stage.
Acting alongside Kennison will be Olivia Renner — granddaughter of Jack Renner, the Scene One stage namesake — who will be playing the teenage daughter, Faith, while Grace Cox will portray the 7-year-old Faith. Julie Gragert-Yates will be playing Sophie.
“The Lessen of Time” opens today and also runs Friday, Saturday, and June 22, 23 and 24. Shows start at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on sceneonetheatre.com.
