Keenan McMahon

March 12, 1972 – October 15, 2024

Keenan Drexel McMahon, age 52, died Tuesday, October 15th, 2024, due to injuries sustained from an illegal gunfighter competition held over the weekend in Neuvoa Roma, Arizona. Deceased competitors McMahon bested include the Reverend Mordecai Sweem, Calvin Reece, Skippington Darlin III, “Dirty” Dick Sharp, and Sancho Alverez. McMahon immediately dispatched second place finisher Alverez but suffered a mortal abdominal wound from the famed “Fat Sancho”.

McMahon nearly died in 2010 at the hands of the notorious Dr. Destro. McMahon foiled a diabolical plan of Destro’s saving famed MI6 British secret agents, James Bond, James Bond, James Bond of Great Brittain, and James “Jimmy” Bond, of Australia at an agent’s reunion BBQ where Destro poisoned the Bonds’ beloved martinis. For his heroics saving her favorite agents, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II knighted McMahon in a secret ceremony. McMahon chose to keep this honor from the public, he said, “related to his Irish heritage, and his American disbelief in royalty as stated in the American Declaration of Independence…all men (and women) are created equal.”

These gunfighters and James Bonds are some of McMahon’s many characters in his writings enjoyed by family and friends including local thespians and theatre-goers of Scene One Theatre in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Actually, McMahon, age 52, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Caring Hearts and Hands of Columbia surrounded by family leaving a legacy of creativity and humor that touched the lives of all who knew him. Keenan was born March 12, 1972, in Maryville, MO, the youngest of five children. McMahon’s humor developed from sibling interaction, and the antics of Bugs Bunny and Monty Python.

At the age of 11, McMahon gave up a lucrative career as a paperboy and moved to Jefferson City with his family. He graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1990 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History in 2017 from Columbia College. Keenan would use his love of history, drawing cartoons, humor and wit to be an integral part of the local theatre. In his time, he earned the respect and admiration of the community, by writing and directing a total of 25-original, short, comedic, plays for Scene One Theatre, with many more written that have yet to be performed. Keenan had a passion for learning, reading, playing guitar and doing his part to keep Jefferson City’s ‘show-folk’ wondering what was coming next, or what play he had written specifically for them.

Keenan tearfully and regrettably leaves behind his dutiful and loving mother, Karen A. McMahon, his beloved sarcastic and not as funny (even though they made him want he was) “pinnacle of sibling excellence”: Kendell McMahon, Paxton, NE, Karmen (Jeffrey) Stockman, Jefferson City, MO, Kevin McMahon, Maryville, MO and Kelly McMahon, Jefferson City, MO.

Keenan continues to be the proud uncle of USAF Captain Logan (Amanda) Stockman, Albuquerque, NM, Geologist Morgan Stockman, Jefferson City, MO, #34/Business Developer, Kevin Brody McMahon, Kansas City, MO, Savanna McMahon and Harper McMahon, Paxton, NE (can it read Savanna and Harper McMahon, does it sound like a couple instead of sisters) and Keller McMahon, Maryville, MO. He is the greatest great-uncle to: Brendan, Tristan and Reagan Stockman, Albuquerque, NM.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gary L. McMahon and nephew, William Kelsey McMahon.
Keenan leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, creativity and inspiration that will continue to live on with his friends, family and the theatre community. He was as unique as they come. Rest in peace, Keenan. He’ll always have a place in the hearts of those who knew him.

A memorial service honoring Keenan will be on Saturday December 21, 2024, at Scene One Theatre, 623 Ohio St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.

“Keenan McMahon: The Epilogue” Doors open at 4:30 PM, Showtime at 6:30 PM.
